Our Method

Essays allow admissions officers to read beyond test scores, grades and student activities. Essays give you a voice.

For over 10 years, The Write Essay has guided students and helped them create unforgettable essays. Just as each student and family is unique; our proven method is tailored to meet the needs of individual families.

Step One: Let’s chat

Our team of writers consists of journalists who are seasoned interviewers, and this skill helps us draw out memorable moments that make for memorable essays. We conduct in-depth parent and student interviews. This process allows you to tell us your story and convey your needs.

Step Two: Finding the perfect topics (no cookie cutter essays!)

Students often complain, “I have nothing to write about,” but by the end of our interviews this session, we’ve identified amazing topics drawn from your life that will surprise you! We help you sort through topics that are a perfect match for each prompt, and then your journey begins.

Step Three: Making the Match

Next, a member of The Write Essay team is selected to work one-on-one with you. Taking into account your skills and personality, we make the perfect match.

Creating Essays:

Different students have different needs. An easy-to-follow plan will be developed and we’ll get through this, together.

Outlines: These “roadmaps” are the first step to developing clear essays that address the prompts. Many students make the critical mistake of writing without an outline, and it is always evident in the final product. We’ll keep you focused so that you create these clear, concise outlines and essays that will tell a story without rambling. Every word counts.

The Hook: The first few sentences are the most critical in the entire essay. We’ll help you identify your “hook” because no one knows how to do this better than a TV writer!

Draft(s): By starting the process as early as possible, students have the time to focus on drafts. Our team keeps you on track so that your essays come from your heart, not your head.

Proofreading and Checklist: (Are we “done”)

Once the essay is complete, it is meticulously proofread for grammar and is run through our proven checklist.

  • Does that first line “grab” the reader?
  • Have we clearly answered the question?
  • Does your story portray you positively?
  • Will the reader identify with you?
  • Do you “nail it” in that last paragraph?
  • Is the essay memorable?

The Perfect and Final Essay:

When we’ve answered “yes” to these questions, the essay is complete!

We’re proud of our students!
