Our Story

The stories that move us are the ones we remember most. They make us smile from ear to ear or bring us to tears. They tug at our heartstrings or compel us to walk, run or donate to a cause. These stories started with a moment that led to a movement. And, they were written by storytellers like us.

Our approach to writing college essays begins with helping students discover or uncover those moments in life that reveal their true character — whether they’re ambitious, adventurous, kind, thoughtful, dedicated, determined, patient or persistent. Our team of creative thinkers, journalists and wordsmiths guide students to carefully craft those experiences to make them memorable.

Our own story has been evolving for decades. We have been writing, well, since we could hold a pencil in our hands. From winning elementary school essay contests to earning coveted Emmy and Associated Press awards to helping students gain admission into some of the most prestigious schools in the country, we have spent our careers revealing, reliving and retelling the stories that shape people’s lives.

Let us help you find your story.

Lisa Salzman, College Concierge

As you and your family set off on this new adventure, you may begin to feel overwhelmed by the big deadlines and small details. Our trusted partner, College Concierge, will create a customized plan that meets your needs. The work starts early. With so many schools to tour, the sooner you begin, the more colleges you’ll visit.

    The Process:

  • Timelines: We’ll create a calendar of ACT and SAT test dates.
  • Vacations, summers, and school holidays: We’ll show you how to make the most of your time.
  • College trips: We’ll organize itineraries to maximize the efficiency of your trips, taking the pressure off of you.
  • Appointments: Scheduling appointments to tour colleges can be a daunting task. We will recommend tour dates, times and even make the appointments. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
  • Lodging: Where should you stay? We provide a list of options.
  • University interviews: When are they offered? We’ll find out and give you a list.

My name is Lisa Salzman, the College Concierge, and I am passionate about the college application process and helping you achieve your goals! I am a wife and mother of three children. My oldest child is a freshman at Cornell University (The Write Essay helped us every step of the way!). As we embarked on the college search and application process, I found it time-consuming and frankly, a bit overwhelming. That’s when the skills I developed through my years of managing a national sales division of a large handbag company kicked in. Through this position, I created an environment of mentoring and leadership. Timelines, strategizing and organizational skills were keys to my success. When it came time to organize my daughter’s college visits and interviews, I was able to come up with a clear and concise game plan of how to organize all the schools we were going to see. Soon after, word spread, and I’ve become a go-to guru for college visit planning and implementation. The coming months will be filled with lots of unknowns, and it would be my pleasure to work with your family to create a plan based upon your family’s individual needs.
